There are so many great things that I could say about my dad. It’s funny, I was at work working with a customer last week that wore the same cologne as my Dad and it reminded me of a feeling that kids feel around great fathers. A sense of love, safety, acceptance, encouragement and the ability to take on the world.

Don’t know if you know this or not dad, but kids develop their image of God by their relationship with their dads. And I have to say, though we haven’t lived in the same state the majority of my life, I have a real sense of who God is because you are my dad. A God with unconditional love, a God that is their anytime I need Him, a God that comforts, a God that desire more out of me and a God that bring peace to my life.

Thanks Dad! Thanks for being a great dad and giving me a glimpse and understanding of my Heavenly Father. Thank you for your example of a great dad! Love you, Dad!

Side note: this picture of Jeff is classic!

God’s hand in on Andrew’s life. He has plans in store for Andrew that are beyond any plan he could dream of. He has been blessed with a heart for people I only could wish I had. He is a selfless person always looking out for those he knows and those he doesn’t. He is an example of what a Christ-follower is to look like, because we are called to love people. Thank you Andrew for setting that example for the rest of us. I am stoked to think about what God has lined up for you. To think about where God is working now to prepare for your work and service.

I was talking with my mom when I was in Chicago about Andrew and I and the callings we have on our lives. I didn’t know until I left Arrowhead how much my mom worried about me being called to ministry and the amount of time she spends praying for me and my ministry. So as you could guess, the idea of Andrew going into missions wasn’t something she wanted to spend any time thinking about. Until I brought to her attention that two of her children are called to ministry and that says something about her. But God has placed Andrew on this earth to love God and love people in the mission field. Whether that is full-time or not you need to talk to Andrew. But he is gifted and called. I am proud to call Andrew my brother and friend! I plan to grow old together with our families hanging.  And selfishly I would love to work along side of him in ministry one day!

Congrats on your degree, Andrew! Happy early Birthday! And can’t wait to have you home!

Wisdom from Andrew

I was talking through some stuff that I was trying to work through, with Andrew a couple of nights ago. God used him to speak from truth into my life, that really rattled my cage (in a good way) and it was too good to not share with you all. It might not mean anything to you, but it’s my blog and I can share whatever I want. :)

“Where will you persevere the most serving God and spreading his beautiful love story?”

I got too bogged down in my current situation that I lost focus or better said, I aloud my circumstances to consume each other when they were two separate situations. I aloud something to overpower and take a higher priority than my calling. Andrew brought my focus back and reminded me that I’m called to love God and love people with that simple question.

Life isn’t easy. Things get us down, but we can’t lose focus of what God has called us to do. Don’t let anything or anyone come in between you and that calling. Sometimes God calls us to give up something we really care about, but He always has a plan that will blows our mind. Don’t let life stop you from getting to the place where you will persevere the most serving God and speading his beautiful love story.

Thanks Andrew. Love you, bro and can’t wait till you get back. Enjoy your last month.

Spent this last weekend in Chicago for Nathan’s hockey tournament and to just get out of town for a long weekend. Love being able to watch Nate play. If you kept up with my tweets you know that Nathan’s team was probably placed in the wrong bracket and they were even playing up an age level; just not the skill level. They ended up taking first with blow-outs each game.

Sunday night we spent the night downtown right off of Michigan Street. Saw the Sears Tower (now called something else), Navy Pier, stopped by the Apple Store, ate at Lawrys (sp?) and we walked all up and down downtown. Cool place to visit. I would love to go back to just spend the weekend down there checking out all the sites. Here are some quick videos:

Pictures are coming. I forgot to get them off my mom’s camera.
