Came across these pictures on the infamous internet, completely fell in love with the style and simplicity of the design. I’m a huge fan on collaboration, not always the best at it, but I’m learning. I’m not a fan of individual offices, waste of money and resources. Everyone in one room works for me! Here is a design firm’s new office space:

That is an environment for creativity! See more pictures here.

Harvard Business Blog is a must for leadership in ministry and the business world. I haven’t learned more, than from this blog. Not a single post I’ve just skipped over. But here is a stolen quote from a recent post:

Take a deep breath, and repeat after me: “My [business model, product, business unit, brand, offering] has a finite life. I’m going to make that life as happy and productive as possible, but I also have to think about what’s next.” – Scott Anthony (more…)

Let us change things up a bit and pull out our trusting photo camera. The exercises this week are going to require you to capture still moments of your life. Time for you amateur photographers to show off your skills and maybe I can get you to shoot some pictures of me for JoshBurcham.com and some future projects.

From Caffeine for the Creative Mind: 250 Exercises to Wake Up Your Brain, here are your two exercises: (more…)

You know how it works. So lets forget the small talk and get to using the left sides (pretty sure it’s the left side, but I could be wrong) of our brains. I’ve been thinking a lot about storytelling and the art form that it truly is. That is one place that I really lack as a communicator and a lot of people would say your not a communicator with you can take people along a story. Sorry, that was a side note.

Here are your exercises from Caffeine for the Creative Mind: 250 Exercises to Wake Up Your Brain for today: (more…)

Small Things, Change Things

Creativity is at the heartbeat of not allowing your church or ministry to become “just blah” by excepting the status quo. Take the time today and think of the small things that could make the big impact. Brand Autopsy posted this article on a small change made in the Schiphol Airport’s (Amsterdam) men’s restrooms that made a big impact on a problem they were trying to solve. Creativity…thinking outside the box…made a big impact with a small change.

PROBLEM:
Too much spillage in the men’s room urinals at Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam).

SOLUTION:
Etch an image of a common housefly near the drain holes of the porcelain urinals.

RESULTS:
Spillage has been reduced by 80%. According to someone close to the project, “The fly improves aim. If a man sees a fly, he aims at it.”

Small Idea, Big Impact by Brand Autopsy

I know it’s a goofy story, but the prinicples run true throughout all we do. Break out of the status quo and start making a kingdom difference in your community. Get creative.
