Ministry Friends: Curt Blocker
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 @ 11:57 am by Josh Burcham

I love talking shop and my shop is the church. I love the church and what God calls the church to do. When I’m able to put both of those passions together. I’m stoked. I have friends that I’m able to talk about life and our lives as a Christ-follower, but not a lot to talk about ministry and talk passionately.
Curt and I worked together at Arrowhead.; I worked under him as the Junior High Director. Curt is the Student Ministry Pastor there. Curt shares my passion for ministry and for the church. Always looking for ways to dream big and better the church. Anytime I have coffee with Curt we dream big and I always leave encouraged and challenged to change the world with the message of Jesus Christ.
I do have a regret, thought. I was a horrible subbornate. I was full of myself and trying to take on ministry by myself. I wish we had the type of relationship we have now, we would of knocked it out of the park and had a ministry capable of doing anything. God could of moved in such ways and tons of students could of met Jesus.
So Curt, if you’re reading this. Sorry dude.

Broke Routine This Weekend
Monday, August 10, 2009 @ 3:29 pm by Josh Burcham
Headed up the mountain this weekend to break routine and get away. Went asking God to create a ‘thin’ place. A place where the heavens touch the earth and where you experience God, the Creator. Spend some time away from everyone on Saturday asking God to show my just a small glimpse of His size. He did just that. (more…)

Life Could Be Shorter
Thursday, June 25, 2009 @ 2:51 pm by Josh Burcham

Life isn’t a guarantee. We don’t know for sure that we will make it home tomorrow. We need to make the most of the time has allotted to us. Take hold of the steering wheel and seize each day! A buddy of mine, John, had a near death experience this past weekend that helped me realized that my time of this earth could be shorter than I thought and need to live each day as such:
I was struggling and kicking like crazy, but I wasn’t getting anywhere. Well many things ran through my head, one being “do I swim sideways, no that’s the ocean… crap what do I do?” then I started thinking “well I guess this is how I go… sucking in salt river pee water!” then it hit me… the rock wall, no literally I hit the rock wall, hard! Then I grabbed a hold of the wall, planted my feet on the side of it and pushed up and to the right. Then I started kicking, and grabbing, and pulling, then I see the dark ring again, and this time it’s getting closer and closer. Then I break through the dark, green, hazy water and find myself in the middle of a different group of people. I hear a voice say “did he pop up yet” I look around and see that there were rescue people at the top of the rock wall just looking down in the water, waiting for me to pop up. No problem, it’s not like I could have used the help, sheesh! I then swam over to my group and saw my wife crying, it was so sad I felt horrible for scaring her like that.

Your Story
Tuesday, June 9, 2009 @ 8:53 pm by Josh Burcham

Recently posted about Calling and the need to know what God is calling you to do to fully live the Christ-follower life. It’s been a topic of conversation in my circles over the last couple of months. So when people’s stories play out right before my eyes, I can only praise God! He is at work! He is setting into place His plan for your life as you read this. He is going before you and will go behind you putting His plan into place!
I’ve been waiting for my buddy, John Popovich, to share his story over at his blog for a week now and I’m so stoked that he just did:
I have been struggling with wanting to know what I have been called to do on this earth. One thing for sure is that I am called to live a life with Christ in His love, to Love God and to Love others, and to go and make disciples of men.
I think I have always known what it was that God has called me to do, but it’s almost as if I kept avoiding the subject. I have never thought I was good enough, talented enough, or anywhere near what I think is the standard by which most people judge this calling. The truth is, I am right, but, God can use the least of us to do amazing things.
It is a must, to read the rest of his story and find out John’s calling. Read it here.
