iPhone 4
Tuesday, June 15, 2010 @ 8:55 pm by Josh Burcham
Apple started accepting iPhone 4 reservations today. Now I normally don’t post on Apple stuff for a couple of different reasons, but this phone was too perfect to not post.

Now I will have the phone on the 24th, so FaceTime me with you’re going to get it right away! Here a link to Apple.com and below is the Keynote of the announcement.

Take away one thing… attention to the details is what make your product or ministry stand out among the rest.

Church Websites Done Right – Part 3
Thursday, September 17, 2009 @ 10:58 am by Josh Burcham
I’ve talked about what makes a great site and showed you what some great sites look like, but what about why people go to your site in the first place. Your site might crash and burn if you created it with the focus of signing members up for ministry and the majority of your visitors are non-members there to check out what the church had to offer. This list was created by Digital Sanctuary titled: Top 10 Website Features on Church Websites. Results come from a survey they assessed on top features/reasons visitors visited church sites:
(Rated from top reasons to bottom.)
1. Find service information (times, directions, etc).
2. Listen to/download Sermons (audio recordings).
3. Learn about the church’s Beliefs/Mission/Values
4. Connect with other members.
5. Read/download Sermons (text transcripts).
6. Join and/or interact with a home/bible study group.
7. View weekly information/calendar/news/events.
8. Find serving opportunities at the church.
9. Post prayer requests or needs.
10. Read articles or other content.
Now go out there and building some amazing sites for His kingdom. If you need some help and/or advice. Email me at hello (at) joshburcham.com

This post is a post in a series of post on Church Websites. Catch up on the series by reading what makes a church site great.
These are the Church Sites that I’ve stumbles upon or someone sent me to and have booked marked for future inspiration or concepts:

We Live in a New World
Saturday, August 15, 2009 @ 1:24 pm by Josh Burcham
Have you taken the plug and embraced social media? …Even my step-dad has a business blog. Now blogs are becoming old technology. Crazy to think about, huh? Best quote in the video was, “The fastest growing segment on Facebook is 55-65 year-old females.”

AT&T, You Dropped the Ball
Saturday, June 13, 2009 @ 11:26 am by Josh Burcham

With the WWDC keynote buzz starting to die down and the iPhone 3.0 software being released this coming Wednesday. iPhone users are starting to focus on the 100 features being added to the iPhones operating system, but with the announcement of 3.0 came major disappointments for AT&T customers.
MMS not till the end of the summer and no tethering support right now. Two major features to iPhone 3.0 not being able to be used in the US. AT&T you’re going to have some pissed off customers.
I’ve been satisfied with AT&T service. No, they don’t have coverage like Verizon in Phoenix, but I been nothing short of thrilled with their customer service. If you have ever dealt with Verizon’s customer service, you would know that you aren’t a valued customer. I’ve had hundreds of dollars removed from my bill, money I should of had to pay due to the terms in my contract. But the lady on the other side of the phone said and I’ll quote her here, “don’t worry about it, it wasn’t your fault. I’ll just remove those charges.” I’ll stay with AT&T because of that one “wow” experience.
But with all that nice stuff said, AT&T you completely dropped the ball on iPhone 3.0 and I think you are going to pay a major price in the long run. A lot of your customers aren’t happy as it is, due to coverage issues and now adding this. Apple might start looking somewhere else to sell their phones and if that is Verizon, you might see a mass exodus.
Hesseldahl from Business Week spoke with AT&T about the missing support for 3.0 features:
AT&T expects to support MMS and video sharing by “late summer,” AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel told me. The delay is related to some internal system upgrades to the network. He added that tethering will be offered at some time in the future, but he couldn’t give me a date.
Read the entire article here: Apple-AT&T: Hints of Strain.
If I was AT&T and I wanted to avoid a riot, I might be busting my butt to get the “internal system upgrades” done this week for the 3.0 launch. If not, I believe you just sealed your coffin. That exclusivity that Apple is offering you, might be going bye bye. Apple builds it’s software for it’s hardware and it’s hardware for it’s software to give their customers the best experience. They went with one carrier to do the same, give their customers the best experience with the iPhone, iPhone 3G and the new iPhone 3Gs. Now that experience isn’t happening due to your inability to keep up. I’m just putting two and two together, but I think you already know it. Apple has checked out.

How Fast Do You Type?
Friday, April 17, 2009 @ 10:00 am by Josh Burcham
I was a little surprised that I typed so quickly. I would of thought I would of been around the 40-50 words a minute range. Not bad for not using my own keyboard. FYI really loving my Dad and Dane’s new iMac. We need more switchers in this word; stop “having to deal with Windows” and come to the dark side. Tedd, would be interested in your speed.

Late Night Update!
Monday, March 9, 2009 @ 10:16 pm by Josh Burcham
the weekend that was: rather full. Friday played some XBOX with some guys, which is alway a great night of deep conversation and murderous rampages in Call of Duty. Saturday was just odds and ends around the house and that night was a time I’ve been looking forward to for awhile. I’ll leave it at that. Sunday was FULL! Church at Parkway (still decieding if I want to make this my church home), then up to Radiant to hear Mark Batterson from National Community teach and then work till close.
tech that caught my attention: kindle 2 still has my attention. There won’t be one in my near future for the fact that it carries a $359 price tag and I can’t justify it with the amount of books I buy. Amazon’s Kindle Site. Recommended books for the Kindle 2.
where i am at the moment: I’m at home in my newly design office. Pretty happy with it. Still need to put up from pictures and purchase a couple more bookshelves, but it is all coming together. The living room is looking very nice as well.
on my to-do list this week: graphics work, planning out next week, work and cleaning the upstairs. Hopefully fitting in some reading.
procrastinating about: paying bills. waiting for money to come in.
book i’m in the midst of: picked up some new ones, churched by Matthew Turner, Branding Faith by Phil Cooke and a classic leadership gem, Visioneering by Stanley, to add to my selves when I was in Colorado last weekend, but still reading through It by Groeschel. That one I’ve picked up, put down and picked up again.
music that seemed to catch my attention this past week: Going back to some great ’90′s music. Green Day’s Dookie (all around great CD), Weezer, etc. Still listening to a lot of Chris Tomlin and Mark Schultz.
how i’m feeling about this week: uh, good question. Not really feeling any particitual way about it. I’m doing some heavy praying this week for next steps, but not really expecting an answer just yet. I’m thinking He is still working on some things. I am looking forward to Tuesday and Wednesday for ovious reasons.
